Once the flexible flashing is set i apply a piece of housewrap along the wall where the fascia meets it.
Likewise a 10 wide flashing will result in a 5 inch wide roof deck flange and a 5 inch vertical flange.

Most flashing is 8 inches wide.
Use the metal break tool to bend the flashing lengthwise in the middle according to the angle of the roof joint.
Install roofing felt before starting step flashing.
If your house has a roof line that extends past a corner of two walls make the first piece of step flashing a corner.
Step 6 make a 10 degree bend on the shingle edge of the flashing approximately 1 2 inch from the edge.
Kickout flashing installs just like standard step flashing except that half of the kickout flashing hangs over the edge of the roof.
4 inches should go up the house wall and 4 inches should go on top of the porch roof shingles.
The solution to rotting sidewalls is a small piece of bent metal called a kickout flashing at roofing suppliers which simply directs all that water away from the wall.
Run roofing felt up the wall about an inch higher than the wall side.

Multiple pieces of the flashing will be installed in layers with shingles to ensure the water flows away from the wall.

I use a wide piece of flexible flashing tape to protect the area between the subfascia and the wall.
Use step flashing that has a 2 to 4 inch longer vertical leg than normal.
A 5 inch wide flashing will result in a 2 1 2 roof deck flange and 2 1 2 vertical wall flange.
Tape the top of step flashing with 4 inch wide minimum self adhering modified bitumen roof tape.
It is used for roof to wall flashing.
However the typical recommended width of step flashing ranges from 5 inches to 10 inches.

Step flashing is a rectangular piece of flashing bent 90 degrees in the center.
The roofing contractors usually try to slide the roof flashing up behind lapped siding but many times this can be a chore and sometimes the exterior wall covering and or the existing water resistive barrier house wrap gets damaged in the process.
Do not seal housewrap or building paper to step flashing.
